Salsa With Pita Chips
When paired with crispy pita chips, this salsa becomes an irresistible snack. The chips, made from toasted or baked pita bread, offer a satisfying crunch that complements the smoothness of the salsa. The combination of the savory, slightly spicy salsa with the warm, crispy pita creates a delightful contrast, making it a perfect appetizer or party snack. Recipe:
1 package (12 ounces) pita bread
4 medium tomatoes, peeled and seeded
2 tablespoons green onion, chopped
1/2 cup fresh cilantro or 1/4 cup dried
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon salt
ground black pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Slice pita bread in half lengthwise using kitchen shears. Slice bread open and cut in triangles. Place bread triangles in a single layer on a pan. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until crisp. Chop tomatoes and green onion, place in mixing bowl. Snip cilantro and add to tomatoes. Add remaining ingredients and mix lightly to combine. Chill until served. Serve salsa with pita chips. 12 servings
