Zesty Beans
This dish is perfect for a barbecue and packed with flavor! This delicious dish is a hearty and flavorful bean and bacon stew that’s perfect for any time of year. With the savory goodness of crispy bacon and the richness of tender beans, it's a crowd-pleaser that can serve 8 to 10 people.

Recipe:
4 bacon strips, diced
1 large onion, chopped
1/3 cup dry lentils
1 -1/3 cups water
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 teaspoon garlic powder
3/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper flakes
1 bay leaf
1 can (16 oz) whole tomatoes with liquid, chopped
1 can (15oz) pinto beans, drained
1 can (16oz) kidney beans, drained
Lightly fry bacon in a pan. Add onion; cook until transparent. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Cook over medium heat for 40 minutes or until beans are tender, stirring a few times. Remove bay leaf before serving. 8-10 servings
